ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday granted physical remand of the former senator Faisal Raza Abidi into police custody for two days.
According to the details, Judge Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi granted Abidi’s physical remand in contempt of court case.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) refused former senator Faisal Raza Abidi’s appeal to dismiss terrorism charges against him earlier today.
During the hearing, Justice Moshin Akhtar Kayani stated that the chief justice and judiciary were being openly threatened which is wrong attitude.
However, former senator’s lawyer denied the charges and said that his client only use harsh words and he did not commit contempt of court.
The former senator also requested the court to adjourn the case till his lawyer returned from Umrah pilgrimage or give him some time to hire a new counsel.
The court approved Abidi’s request and adjourned the hearing till October 30.

On October 10, Abidi was arrested by the secretariat police after appearing before the court in Islamabad.
The former senator has served as the Karachi division president of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) but later he was removed from the post in 2012.
