MASTUNG: Up to 14 people died and 25 were injured as a passenger bus collided with a van in the Dasht area of Mastung district on Saturday, according to rescue sources.
The injured have been shifted for treatment to Civil Hospital, Quetta, with the bodies also being shifted there as well. Five of the injured are in critical condition and are being treated in the trauma centre.
According to reports by the local administration, the passenger bus was on its way to Sibbi from Quetta when it collided with the van. Passengers in the van were mostly young men enroute to a picnic.
The van’s driver was proclaimed dead on the spot, with no information about the whereabouts of the bus’ driver yet.
PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased who are mourning the loss of lives of their dear ones in the accident.
Chief Minister Balochistan Sanuallah Zehri was also amongst those who expressed his condolences with the affected families and directed the authorities concerned in favor of providing the best medical facilities to the injured.
In April, when a coach overturned near Mastung as the driver plunged the vehicle into a ravine, at least eight people were killed while 20 others were declared injured.
