LAHORE – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Sunday said the government was ready to consult opposition on the terms of reference (ToRs) prepared in the wake of the Panama revelations, local media reported.
The prime minister expressed his views after a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who discussed with him matters relating to the Panama Papers here at Jati Umra.
The development comes amid differences between the government and the opposition over the proposed terms of reference, with the opposition saying it would hold talks in Islamabad Monday to develop a new strategy.
The opposition had formulated 15 TORs, and demanded the investigation into the Panama revelations, which include the names of Nawaz’s sons and daughter, be initiated.
They had also demanded that a judicial commission, led by Supreme Court Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali should submit its report within three months.
