ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Disciplinary Committee on Saturday imposed a fine of Rs5 lac to MPA Imran Shah for thrashing a citizen on August 14.
PTI Karachi President Firdous Shamim Naqvi held a joint-press conference with members of the disciplinary committee and announced the verdict. He said that the committee has made the decision based on evidence and Imran’s confession.
Naqvi added that the amount will be donated to Edhi foundation, while he also warned the MPA that he would be suspended from party membership if he commits such an act again.
Earlier this month, a video of Syed Imran Ali Shah, the elected MPA from PS-129, went viral on social media. In the video, Shah was seen slapping a man on a busy road in Karachi.
The MPA had claimed that he was trying to stop a brawl when the man he slapped uttered derogatory remarks against him, which ‘infuriated’ the PTI leader.
However, after severe social media backlash, the PTI took action against Imran, while he himself visited the man’s residence and apologised.
